Bloomsdale Excavating performed the site preparation work for a new 1.2 million square foot Distribution Center located in St. James Missouri. Hensel Phelps Construction Company selected Bloomsdale Excavating because of their ability to deliver quality work, meet aggressive scheduling requirements and offer competitive prices.

The scope of work included the site grading for a 27-acre building pad, 60 acres of parking lots and various truck docks, in addition to, the storm drainage system. Approximately 1.2 million cubic yards of Class A and Class C material was excavated and placed as compacted embankment within an eight-week period. A combination of 10 Caterpillar 637E Scrapers and 10 Caterpillar Challengers with double pans were utilized, as well as, numerous pieces of support equipment, excavating 37,000 cubic yards of material in a single-shift.

The storm drainage system consisted of the installation of 9,000 lineal feet of reinforced concrete pipe and over 30 pre-cast concrete structures.

Scheduling was of paramount importance and Bloomsdale Excavating delivered the massive building pad four weeks prior to the target date.
