Project: Lowe's of Republic
Client: EMJ
Location: Republic, Missouri
Timeline: September 2005-March 2006

EMJ selected Bloomsdale Excavating to perform the site work development for a new Lowe’s store in Republic, Missouri. A particular obstacle that made this project a challenge for Bloomsdale was that the original contract date of June 2005, afforded Bloomsdale the summer months to execute the “Lion’s share” of the grading and utilities installation. However, because of a number of delays closing on the property, EMJ requested that Bloomsdale extend their start date three different times for a total of three months. This resulted in working through the fall and into the winter months when weather was sure to affect the schedule.

The project consisted of over 30,000 cubic yards of on site excavation and in excess of 60,000 cubic yards of import material along with almost three miles of utilities and storm drain. Another challenge was the presence of solid rock in the utilities and storm drain excavation that led to the systematic and controlled drilling and blasting of rock, all within the city limits of Republic, Missouri.

It was imperative that EMJ still have a delivery date on the building pad that would facilitate having the building under roof prior to cold weather. The building pad was delivered on schedule even though the start date was delayed 90 days.

“Bloomsdale Excavating is completing another project for us at the Lowes store in Republic, Missouri. It is a great pleasure to work with an Excavating and Utility contractor run as professionally as Bloomsdale. They meet their schedules with quality and teamwork.”
